What are protection recommendations?

In recent years, knowledge about the effectiveness of protection is growing and initial results are encouraging. The main recommendation is to use equipment with a level of protection adapted to the level of risk estimated by analysis of the work situation [F. Balas et al., Nature Nanotechnology 5 (2010) 93-96 / INRS, ED6115 (2012)].

Adaptation of protective equipment to the estimated level of risk.

The protection equipment recommendations are:

  • use HEPA environmental filter,
  • take care of conditions of use for masks: airtightness, humidity,
  • for protecting clothing use rather a not weaved material like Tywek.

Further studies must be undertaken on the effectiveness of confinement of nanoparticles for the phases of storage, warehousing, and transport.
