In the air

What are probable scenarios for nanoparticles in the air?

The natural convection carries the particles in low or high level atmospheric layers. The tendency of particles to aggregate limits their routes, and leads them to be deposited more quickly by gravity.

The distance traveled by the particles is inversely proportional to their size. If the large particles (> 5 mm) do not exceed 500 km in translation motion for 3 km in height in a duration of a few days, particles (~ 100 nm) can make the tour of the globe and in an average time of atmospheric stay of 2 years at about 18 km in altitude.

The characteristics of every type of nanoparticle (size, shape, ability to react, electrical charge) should be able to supply some indications on the potential routes, but these indications remain unpredictable
