Filters structure

What are the available filters?

Many types of filters are recommended for personnel protection and/or environment. In both cases, it is about letting the air (in gaseous medium) or the solution (in colloidal medium) pass through and trap the particles. The effectiveness of each type of filter depending on the context of the working situation has been studied in the case of the NanoSafe2 program.

Fiberglass filters - Cellulose ester filters - Polyvinylidene fluoride filters - Track-etched polycarbonate membranes.

Fiberglass filters have a classic use for protection against aerosols in gaseous medium or particle filtering in solution. The fiber diameter as well as the space between fibers range from 100 nm to a few mm.

Filters based cellulose ester are also used for protection against aerosols and have the particularity of being able to dissolve in a solvent for a post-project analysis of the filtered products.

Filters based polyvinylidene fluoride are specific to the separation of biological media criticism.

Track-etched polycarbonate membranes are typically used for applications such as microscopy, particulate analysis, and environmental testing (air and water monitoring).
