Regulations

What are the opinions and the recommendations in prevention?

In France, in 2009 and 2010, the Haut Conseil de la Santé Publique (HCSP) proposes recommendations concerning carbone nanotubes and silver nanoparticles use.

The ANSES (“Agence Nationale de sécurité sanitaire de l’alimentation, de l’environnement et du travail”) and the INRS (“Institut nationale de recherche et de sécurité”) have also issued opinions and recommendations on use and protection related to nanoparticles.

hcsp

  • recommend, in accordance with the Precautionary Principle, a strict confinement for CNT production and their utilization for the production of intermediate products or consumer and health products [Avis relatif à la sécurité des travailleurs lors de l’exposition aux nanotubes de carbone (2009)],

  • on the need to the creation of the monitoring device of the use of nanosilver in the consumers goods, in particular particles which come into contact with human. It may be possible to insure the traceability and the information on the presence of nanosilver, from the production to the putting on the market, elimination or recycling. A product labelling, an inventory (database) and a nanosilver life cycle evaluation are required [Recommandation de vigilance relative à la sécurité des nanoparticules d’argent (2010)].
