Detection in solution

What are the available instrumentations to take measures in solution?

Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) is a technique like PCS (“Photon Correlation Spectroscopy”) that uses light dispersion to characterize a solution. The PCS techniques are extremely fast but "see" only the predominant particle size in a solution. The NTA (NanoSight LM-10 and LM-20) instruments reflect the predominant dimension but also all other particles present in the solution. Others techniques such as DLS (“Dynamic light scattering”) ou le FFF (“Field flow fractionation”) are also used for measurements in solution.

An analysis of the speed of each particle for a fixed period can represent a distribution of particles from 15 nm to 1 µm. The particles with a high refractive index, such as Silver particles can be detected down to very small dimensions. For the largest particles (~ 103 nm) the limitation will come from the mobility and speed which will be lower.
