Reactivity

What do we know about "nano effect" and chemical reactivity?

In the nanoform, the relative percentage of atoms on the surface is considerably higher; all properties of a material related to the exchange surface (and possibly chemical reactivity) will be stimulated. For the same mass, the adsorption capacity of a nanoparticle will be higher than that of a microparticle.

atomes_en_surface_1

96 % of atoms on the surface

atomes_en_surface_2

52 % of atoms on the surface

atomes_en_surface_3

20 % of atoms on the surface

The smaller the particle size, the greater the relative number of atoms on the surface is.

The available atoms to a possible reaction are more large. But, all finely divided particles are not hyper-responsive.
