Exposure limitation

How to limit exposure?

The limitation of exposures will follow the ALARA principle (“As Low As Reasonable Achievable”) for CEA personnel as well as for other personnel. In addition, the Health Service at Work is responsible for the decision to keep pregnant or breastfeeding women as well as trainees in position, according to the assessment of the exposure risk to nanomaterials in the workplace.

Masks, gloves and glasses.

On several occasions in conjunction with the activities of the CEA, such as maintenance, cleaning, repairing, scientific collaboration, etc., employees of exterior enterprises or similar, are likely to intervene on equipment in premises where the nanorisk exists.

In a primary concern of prevention, and as far as possible, the exposure of these employees should be zero. In all other cases, the following must be done:

  • an identification of risks and an inventory of associated preventive measures tracked in a prevention plan under the decree of 20 February 1992 (EEC Directive 89-391),
  • defining specific security recommendations and informing employees.
